Effective Marking
Effective Marking is a highly motivational, efficient way for teachers to mark children’s work. Developed by a Headteacher in a Hackney primary school, it has had considerable impact on standards. Now used successfully in a number of other schools across the country, Ofsted reports have commented very favourably. In 2008, at Woodberry Down, they said, “The school excels in many areas of its work, but is especially successful in the quality of the academic guidance it gives pupils… There is an extremely effective written dialogue in books, between teachers and pupils, that stems from an efficient system of marking using tailor-made labels…”
